Meteor Studio - Senior UX Strategist

What I do:

As a Senior Design Strategist, I bring creative rigor to solve organizational and product problems. I lead early-stage strategy work: defining the project and approach, through testing prototypes with users or presenting the work around Meteor — all in service of delivering polished strategy, told in compelling stories and experience concepts that will build momentum around the ideas. I work with team leads to create project roadmaps that the design team implements. I co-create Meteor strategy and processes to enhance and grow Meteor studio, including building design processes and organization and project strategy. I also craft executive presentations of the work and make sure our work is highly visible within Meteor and beyond.

As a mentor, I lead the design team and also help lead projects to tackle problems that span products, platforms, and organizational units. Me and the design team collaborates with people across Meteor to discover user needs, framing research to fit within the organization/research agenda, and identify what our users truly desire. Me and the design team also plan and facilitate ideation, prototype and user testing sessions. Our work usually culminates in stakeholder or user-ratified concepts and prototypes.

Activities:

• Work with stakeholders to develop Meteor Studio strategy for optimizing current successful practices and scaling the Studio into the MIX center
• Mentor Design Manager and Creative Support Manager
• Use empathy and a deep understanding to quickly analyze a client’s or project’s landscape, assess their unique challenges and needs, and become a trusted advisor who can create a clear scope and go-forward strategy plan for supporting those needs
• Needs assessments and listening sessions to understand project needs, and translate to design and facilitation experiences that design team can execute
• Lead stakeholder engagement including stakeholder mapping sessions
• Provide structure and processes to support teams and design team in moving from ideas to implementation, such as suggested milestones and approaches for developing operational plans, or plans for prototyping and measuring impact of selected ideas
• Organize, manage, and lead both in-person and remote facilitated design sessions
• Work as a tactical (as needed) design specialist to turn ambiguous problems into clear and concise design strategy and make the complex simple and digestible.
• Create the design thinking process/structure to use in Metor projects including rapidly develop behavioral prototypes, user flows, final design assets, hi-fidelity mock-ups and lightweight design specifications
• Help the design team translate insights into design opportunities within constraints.
• Work to guide the process from framing a challenge, to defining the approach and plan, to research and insights, to concept and implementation - and mentor the design team to do the same.
• Speak in a visual language and help others cultivate a strong design voice and point of view on where to go and why in a project.
• Work as a design specialist on projects to synthesize and tell a captivating story, build a deep rapport, and give honest feedback.
• Help design team to evolve the organization design language as well as establish main design standards, design library, and component library.
