Guild Purpose
What is a Photogrammetrist?
The Photogrammetry guild is united by a common interest in using imagery and remote sensing technology to extract precise spatial information and create detailed geospatial models for various applications. Photogrammetrists use photography, video, and/or point cloud data, AI, Nerfs, and specialized software to create accurate 3D models and measurements of objects, terrain, or structures from 2D images, producing high-quality creative work within project constraints.
Experiential Learning
Hands-on Opportunities:
- Creating an accurate 3D model of an object, terrain, or structure from 2D images, video, AI, Nerfs, and/or point cloud data in photogrammetry software like Reality Capture or Polycam.
- Facilitating discussions, presenting to an audience, receiving feedback, giving feedback, and managing questions about the level design in a stakeholder-or-team meeting environment.
- Setting up and using common photogrammetry software such as Reality Capture, Polycam, 3D Scanner App, Luma AI, and other software, AI software, and 3D scanning apps.
Foundational Knowledge
Learning Opportunities:
- Fundamentals of planning, feedback, implementation, iteration, and best practices.
- Interdisciplinary understanding of project tools including game engines, programming languages, audio/video editors, 2D/3D art programs, and UX wireframing.
Competencies
Proficiency Goals:
- Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written formats.
- Strong organizational skills for project planning and implementation.
- Effective collaboration with diverse team roles by understanding their perspectives and needs.
